Christian Marriages

I’ll suggest that, apart from the external actions and disciplines, there is a fundamental element to all good Christian marriages. That is this: a strong spiritual walk with Christ – which each partner is experiencing as an individual.

The love relationship we have with Jesus as individuals affects our marriage, naturally and powerfully. If we have a vibrant relationship with Christ, and we are engaged in developing that relationship with regularity and discipline, them we will bring that passion, that depth of intimate personal knowledge of the Lord to our marriage. Our love for Jesus will pull our spouse toward Christ. Conversely, though, if our walk with Him is dry and dusty, if we are drifting away from Christ in apathy and busyness and distraction, we have the ability to pull our spouse away from Him.
